Latest Score: India 196/8 in 43.5 overs v Bangladesh (Match delayed by rain)
Rain has interrupted play after Bangladesh’s new pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman haunted India’s batsmen again to put his side in the driver’s seat in the second ODI in Mirpur.
The 19-year old’s world record-equalling five-wicket haul left the tourists reeling on 196 for eight in 43.5 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Mustafiz, in the process, has become only the second bowler after Zimbabwe seamer Brian Vittori to take five wickets in his first two ODIs.
Fooled by his lethal cutter, India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (47) lobbed it to Soumya Sarkar at short cover before the left-arm seamer trapped Axar Patel was in front in his next delivery.
Mustafizur registered his second straight five-wicket haul when Ravichndran Ashwin (4) walked back caught behind with another offcutter.
Ravindra Jadeja (19) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2) were trying to get India to a decent total.
After captain Mashrafe brought him back to the attack, Mustafizur outfoxed Suresh Raina (34) with a cutter again.
The batsmen attempted to run it down towards third man but only found an edge back to the wicketkeeper.
The dismissal broke Raina’s 53-run stand with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Shikhar Dhawan (53) came down the wicket but was beaten in flight by Nasir Hossain as he took a slender edge back to wicketkeeper Liton Kumar Das, who redeemed himself after dropping a tough one earlier in the over.
In the next over, Ambati Rayudu was gone for a duck, when he cut low for a catch to Nasir at point off Rubel Hossain.
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (27) and Suresh Raina were in the middle for India.
Dhawan scored his fifty off 54 balls with seven boundaries.
Mustafizur Rahman sent Rohit Sharma packing in the second ball of the day when the batsman drove and got a thick edge to Sabbir Rahman at point.
Kohli (23) was trapped in front of a Nasir Hossain straighter one after the batsman had put on a 74-run recovery stand with Shikhar Dhawan.
India won the toss and opted to bat.
Bangladesh have fielded an unchanged squad.
India have left out Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma. Ambati Rayudu, Axar Patel and Dhawal Kulkarni have come in to replace them.
