Jatiya Mukti Council begins 2-day nat’l conference

The Jatiya Mukti Council on Friday inaugurated its first two-day national council in Dhaka, vowing a democratic transition and the establishment of rights for workers and farmers.

Faiezul Hakim, the secretary of the party, while inaugurating the conference in front of the National Press Club, stated that the democratic transition of the country is required through a free, fair and credible Jatiya Sangsad election scheduled for February 12.

 

‘Our party has taken 18-point programmes for democratic transition and for establishing rights for the workers and farmers of the country,’ Faiezul Hakim said.

After the inauguration, a colourful procession was held in the city that paraded several city streets.

The procession was followed by a discussion meeting at the Bangladesh Medical Association auditorium on Topkhana Road, chaired by Foiezul Hakim.

Central leaders of the party Sajib Roy, Bhulan Bhowmik, Mijibor Rahman, Kazi Iqbal, Minhaz Ahmed, Jatiya Ganafront coordinator Tipu Biswas, Albert Saren, Shafi Rahman, student leader Mitu Sarker and others spoke at the discussion meeting.

The council session of the party will be held today to elect a new central committee, a party press release said.

Jatiya Mukti Council was formed on 24 October 2003 at a convention in the Engineers Institution of Bangladesh auditorium, politician and academic Badruddin Umar was elected its president.
