Quader: BNP instigating civil war
He remarked this after BNP leaders urged the public to guard polling stations during the election
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has accused BNP of instigating a civil war by asking the public to guard polling stations during the 11th general election.
“BNP leaders are trying to destabilize the country by making offensive comments and destroying the peaceful environment,” he told reporters after an event at a Dhaka hotel on Thursday.
He made the remarks after BNP leaders urged the public to guard polling stations during the election slated for December 30.
Obaidul – also road, transport and bridges minister – said BNP will always maintain ties with Jamaat-e-Islami.
Replying to a question he said they do not think the Election Commission is biased.
The Awami League leader said they complained to the Election Commission about Tarique Rahman interviewing BNP nomination-aspirants.
Obaidul dismissed media reports about Awami League’s nominations.
“Those who have a chance of winning will be given a nomination. There is no possibility for compromise,” he said.
