9 trafficking victims return from Iran

The victims were taken to Iran from Dubai and kidnapped there few months ago, says Binoy

Nine Bangladeshi migrants, who were abducted by a gang of human traffickers in Iran, have returned home on Friday morning.

A scheduled flight of Fly Dubai carrying the migrant workers arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:40am, said Executive Director of Rights Jessore Binoy Krishno.

They were brought back home with the assistance of Bangladesh embassy in Iran, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rights Jessore, a non-governmental organisation working for the victims of human trafficking.

The victims are Halim, Mohosin, Shohorab, Shahab Uddin, Samar Uddin, Tomij Uddin, Jillur Rahman, Hridoy and Romiz Ali.

Binoy Krishno said: “The victims were taken to Iran from Dubai and kidnapped there few months ago. The human traffickers had collected Tk5 lakh ransom from Hridoy’s family with the help of their agents in Bangladesh.”

He said: “The traffickers had collected money from the other victims is the same manner.”
