7 injured in a friendly fire during AL rally in Faridpur

At least seven people including the officer-in-charge of Bhanga police station were injured when a bullet was mistakenly fired by a local Awami League on a procession led by AL presidium member Kazi Zafarullah at Munshibari of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur on Saturday. Officer-in-charge of Bhanga police station, Nazmul Islam, said a bullet went off the short-gun owned by assistant secretary of Bhanga unit Awami League, Depak Majumder, around 9:00am during a rally which was led by former MP Kazi Zafarullah. The bullet randomly injured 7 people, said Nazmul Islam. Six of the wounded were sent to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, he said. Among them, five were identified as Imarat Ali, Forhad Matubbar, Shahjahan Mollah, Jamir Matubbar, and Shahed Ali. It could not be known why a man was allowed with his private gun in a rally led by a senior AL leader.
