Dhaka Gladiators bowling coach Mohammad Rafique has claimed that their team played a fixed match with Chittagong Kings during the second session of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

He, however, denied his involvement in the matter.

International Cricket Council’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) is investigating allegations of wrongdoing during the BPL match held on Feb 2 at MA Aziz Stadium.

Allegations are there that Mohammad Ashraful, the captain of Dhaka Gladiators, was involved in match-fixing.

Rafique, former spinner of the national team, told bdnews24.com over phone: “Several rounds of meeting were held at the room of Gladiators Manager Sanwar Hossain before that match. Coach Ian Pont and I were not in the meetings.”

“Several players and some people from the owners’ side were in the meetings. Later (I) came to know from several players that the owners asked (the players) to be defeated in the match,” he continued.

Rafique, however, could not confirm if Ashraful, once captain of the national team, had acquaintance with any gambler.
