At one stage, the Shibir activists threw brickbats at police, triggering a clash that left 12 people injured.

Police fired several gunshots and lobbed teargas shells to bring the situation under control.

The injured were rushed to several clinics and hospitals.

Publicity Secretary of Shibir city unit Abdullah Al Rafi claimed that 12 of their activists were injured in police action.
