Amid the rise in Covid-19 deaths and infections, the number of dengue cases are also seeing an uptick in the country, especially in Dhaka this month.

Twenty new dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours until this morning — all of them in Dhaka — according to the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room under the Directorate of Health.

With the new cases, at least 99 patients are being treated for dengue, including 93 patients only in the capital, it said.

Last year, the country was hit by a massive outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease. There were 101,354 officially confirmed cases, with 179 deaths in 2019.
