On Monday, NBR asked all banks to freeze accounts of Kawsar

Swechchhasebak League President Molla Md Abu Kawsar has been relieved of his post.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader made the announcement while attending the party’s Dhaka city (North) extended meeting in Dhanmondi on Wednesday.

The decision was disclosed a day after the National Board of Revenue (NBR) asked all banks to freeze all accounts of Kawsar, his wife Parveen Luna, daughter Nujhat Nadia Nila, and his business Fine Power Solution Limited.

Molla Abu Kawser is the president of Dhaka Wanderers Club that was sealed off by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on charges of running illegal casinos.

Since September 18, RAB and police have raided different clubs across Bangladesh, busting illegal casinos. A number of people, including Jubo league leaders, were detained and then showed arrested after the raids.

The NBR also directed the banks to initiate the same actions against all accounts of nearly 25 people, including two Dhaka North City Corporation councillors Habibur Rahman Mizan alias Pagla Mizan and Tarequzzaman Razib who were recently detained.

The NBR continues its ongoing drive against tax evasion since the casino scandal unearthed.
