SC publishes full verdicts of appeals of Mojaheed, SQ Chy

Salauddin-Quader-Chowdhury-and-Ali-Ahsan-Mohammad-Mojaheed

The Supreme Court on Wednesday published the full-verdicts of appeals filed by convicted war-criminals Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury against International Crimes Tribunal verdicts upholding the death sentences.
Supreme Court registrar general Syed Amirul Islam told New Age that they were preparing to send the verdicts to the International Crimes Tribunal will try to reach it by today,
The Appellate Division on June 16 upheld the death sentence awarded to Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed for killing intellectuals in 1971, during the Liberation War. The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on July 17, 2013, sentenced Mojaheed to death finding him guilty abetting the killing of eminent journalist Seraj Uddin Hossain and several other intellectuals in Dhaka on December 14, 1971. As the chief of the notorious Al-Badr force he was also found guilty of ordering the killing of the people of Hindu community at Bakchar village under Faridpur on May 13, 1971.
The Appellate Division on July 29 also upheld the death sentence for Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury in war crimes in Chittagong region during the Liberation War of 1971.
On October 1, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced Salauddin to death on four war crimes charges and jailed him for various terms on five other charges.
