BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, now in a Shillong hospital after his disappearance from Dhaka over two months ago, is still going through a state of fear and uncertainty, claimed another party leader  who met him on Sudnay.
Abdul Latif, assistant office secretary of the BNP, said Salahuddin was found forgetting the words he uttered moments before.
“He has been so devastated mentally that he can’t remember something which he has just said a while ago,” Abdul Latif told newsmen at the hospital.
He added, “Salahuddin is yet overcome the trauma he had undergone (during the course of disappearance.”
The BNP leader pointed out that Salahuddin was also waiting for his wife to come to Shillong, where he was found on last Monday. His family claimed that the BNP joint secretary-general was picked up by members of the law enforcement agencies from an Uttara residence on 10 March.
After he was found in Shillong, the local police detained him and took him to the civil hospital. He may be produced before the court as he may be tried for intrusion into Indian territory.
Abdul Latif said Salahuddin requested them to inform him instantly if his wife Hasina Ahmed arrives in Shillong.
The BNP leader said Salahuddin was being given necessary treatment at the hospital but not up to the standard he received in Singapore.
Physician GK Goswami told Prothom Alo that the latest information about Salahuddin’s health will be available after necessary check-up on Monday.
It was indicated that the likelihood of producing Salahuddin before the court is little, given his health conditions
