BSMRAU teacher suspended for remarks against PM

A teacher of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) has been suspended for allegedly making derogatory comments against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The suspended teacher is Professor Dr SM Iqbal Hossain of the Agricultural Engineering Department.

BSMRAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the suspension to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.

BSMRAU sources said the Dr Iqbal allegedly made the derogatory comments when an employee of the university went to his room for conveying a “Nobo Borsho” greeting card from the prime minister on Wednesday.

He became angry suddenly seeing the card and started making remarks against Sheikh Hasina which later induced protest among the general students and teachers of the university and they demanded his removal from the university.

Later on the April 9, the authorities suspend him issuing a formal letter.
