North South University authorities have suspended its teacher professor Gias Uddin Ahsan who was arrested on charge of not recording information of his tenants who turned out to be Gulshan café attackers, reports UNB.

The action was taken against Gias Uddin, Dean of the NSU School of Health and Life Sciences, as police arrested him under section 54 on charge of renting out his house to militant suspects without verification, NSU deputy director (PR) Belal Ahmed told UNB on Monday.

Police on Saturday arrested three people-Gias Uddin Ahsan, his nephew Alam Chowdhury and manager of the building Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin- from different parts of the capital.

Police also seized cartons containing sand and some clothes of the militants from the house.

On July 1, gunmen stormed the cafe and took guests and employees hostage. Twenty bodies, including nine of Italians and seven Japanese nationals, were recovered from the crime scene the following day.

The crisis ended following an army-led joint operation. Two policemen and five militants were also killed.
