A Chhatra League activist was killed and nine people were injured in a triangular clash among members of police, Hefajat-e-Islam and ruling party activists in the city’s Kamrangirchar area on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Shahid Hossain, 35.

Local sources said the clash ensued around 4:30 pm near Kamrangircha police station between a group of madrasah student and local Chhatra League activists over the Saturday’s long march programme of Hefajat-e-Islam.

The clash spread as police tried to bring the situation under control by firing several rounds of gunshot, leaving 10 people injured, including three with bullet.

The three injured with bullet were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared Shahid dead.
