In a blistering attack on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said she is responsible for the death of 20 people killed in recent hartal violence.
Addressing a rally at Kotalipara in Gopalganj, she expressed her hope that the trial of the killings will be held someday.
She accused Khaleda of enforcing hartal despite her call for withdrawing the programme.
The prime minister alleged that the opposition leader does not want to contest elections. “She (Khaleda) does not like election.”
Hasina said they have amended the provisions which had been banned by the High Court.
“In Bangladesh, there is no scope of capturing the state power illegally,” she said adding Khaleda does not want to contest the election as the way to illegally capturing the power has been stopped.
Saying Awami League does not believe in vote rigging, Hasina, who heads the ruling party, added that around 6,000 elections had been took place since her taking office in 2009, but no one could raise any question about the elections.
“She wants the country free from Hasina because she likes to kill people,” the prime minister accused Khaleda and vowed to continue doing work for the development of the country till her death.
She urged the people of Kotalipara to vote for her in the next general election expected to be held in mid January.

Joy calls BNP a terrorist organisation

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, today said BNP is a “terrorist organisation rather than a political party”.

“No political party can kill people this way in the name of hartal,” Joy told reporters while visiting the people who received burn injuries in hartal violence in the last few weeks.

Joy said hartal is no more a tool of democratic movement.

Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque and Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu accompanied the prime minister’s son at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital this afternoon.
