News - Hefajat leader Babunagri on 9-day remand
A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Hefajat-e-Islam secretary general Junaid Babunagri on a nine-day remand in a case filed over May 5 city violence.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Tarek Mohinul Islam Bhuiya passed the order when police produced him before his court with a remand prayer.

Sub-inspector Sheikh Mafizur Rahman of Motijheel Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the Hefajat leader before the court seeking 10 days’ remand for him.

After hearing, the court granted a nine-day remand.

On Monday, SI Mohammad Zakir Hossain filed the case with Motijheel Police Station against Junaid Babunagri and unidentified 50,000 Hefajat men on charges of killing a cop and exploding crude bombs in the city on May 5.

Police arrested the Hefajat secretary general from Dhakeshwari Temple area in Lalbagh on Monday night.
