News - Hamid receives felicitation letter from Pranab
President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday received a letter of felicitation from his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee on his assumption of office as the Bangladesh’s 20th President.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran handed over the letter to Hamid when he paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.

During the meeting, President Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with India and considers the country as one of its most trusted friends.

The President said: “We need Indian assistance for the development of the country and we also want assistance in this regard.”

He said the role of India in the Bangladesh’s Liberation War will ever be remembered.

The Indian High Commissioner apprised the President that the unresolved issues, including land boundary agreement and Teesta deal, between the two countries will be resolved through discussion in the days to come.

He also informed Hamid that agreements signed between the two countries in the last four years will be implemented soon.

Pankaj said India will extend cooperation to Bangladesh in the power sector soon.

The Indian envoy assured the President that he would continue his endeavour to take the bilateral ties between the two neighbouring nations into a new height.
