Gulshan’s Nibras, Kalyanpur’s Orko were ‘close friends’: Police

One of the militants shot dead by police forces in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur militant den, Sejad Rouf Morocco alias Orko was a close friend of Nibras Islam, who was one of the terrorists of Gulshan café attack.

The information was given by Additional Commissioner of DMP, Masudur Rahman.

On Tuesday, law enforcers launched a raid inside a militant hideout in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur and killed 9 terrorists. Till now, three of the militants have been identified and Orko is one of them.

Masudur Rahman informed that Sejad Rouf Morocco was a student of BBA department of North South University.

Police have informed that Orko was a close friend of Nibras, who was shot down by commandos inside the Hokey Artisan Bakery following the Gulshan terror attack. Orko used to live in Dhaka’s Baridhara area.

The police official informed that Orko was named in the initial list made by the law enforcers which contained names of people with possible militant links.

Nibras was one of the six militants who were shot down by commando forces, after the upscale restaurant named Holey Artisan Bakery came under terrorist attacks on July 1, where 20 hostages died including 17 foreigners.

After the Gulshan tragedy, amid fears of missing youths joining extremists, family of Sejad Orko had published an advertisement on media seeking his whereabouts.

On Tuesday, Orko’s family confirmed his death in Kalyanpur after police released images of the shot down terrorists.
