 The delivery of goods at Chittagong port resumed on Thursday afternoon as the Cyclone Mahasen is heading towards Tripura of India as a land depression.
Port secretary Syed Farhad Uddin said the delivery of goods from different shades of the port resumed around 4pm.
He, however, said the loading and unloading of goods at the port remained halted as the ships were staying at the outer anchorage.
The port secretary said they lowered the ‘alert-3’ and instead issued ‘alert-2’ at the port.
Meanwhile, the activities at Shah Amanat International Airport will resume on Friday morning.
Squadron leader Rabiul Alam, airport manager of the airport, said they have started replacing various apparatus removed fearing destruction from the cyclone. “We hope to resume the activities at the airport tomorrow (Friday) morning.”
Weakened further and bearing down on Tripura of India as a land depression on Thursday afternoon, Cyclone ‘Mahasen’ killed at least five people in three districts during its morning fury.
The deaths were reported from Barguna, Bhola and Patuakhali districts where the tropical storm also damaged several hundred houses.
Earlier, the cyclone made a landfall in Bangladesh through Khepupara coast of Patuakhali in the morning.  Later, it passed over Feni and Noakhali regions at noon.
