Both the major political parties in Bangladesh would like you to believe that the country is divided between two ideological camps – pro and anti liberation war forces. One group is hell bent on stopping any trial of war criminals, while the other group is ready to lay down their lives to bring the dark forces to justice. However, the situation on ground is far simpler. Apart from a few hardcore Jamaat sympathisers, there exists a broad unanimity within the population to put the war criminals to justice. The major crisis lies within the desire of the both the major political parties to use the War Crimes Tribunal (WCT) as political weapon.
