Police have been sued around 185 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, on charges of Sunday’s attack on police at Badurtala of Chittagong city.

Of the accused, the names of 35 Jamaat-Shibir men were mentioned, reported our Chittagong correspondent.

The Jamaat-Shibir activists went on rampage vandalising six vehicles including a police van and blasting at least six homemade bombs in the port city on Sunday.

At least three policemen and a media person were injured during the attack.

Panchlaish police filed the cases with their police station early Monday for assaulting law enforcers, vandalising vehicles and exploding bombs.

One of the first cases was filed under Speedy Trial Act, said Rajesh Barua, second officer of Panchlaish Police Station.

In both of the cases, police mentioned the names of 35 Jamaat-Shibir men who were arrested at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Chittagong College and different places after the attack.
