Classified loan of state-run banks Tk 28,416.25cr till March

The amount of classified loan in the state- run banks is Tk 28,416.25 crore till March of this year, Finance Minister AMA Muhith told Parliament on Tuesday.

 

Replying to a tabled starred question from M Ayen Uddin (Rajshahi-3), he said the amount of classified loan in the Sonali Bank is the highest with Tk 10,432.43 crore.

 

Muhith informed the House that the classified loan of the other state-run commercial banks are Tk 3,343.48 crore in Janata Bank; Tk 3,324.46 crore in Agrani Bank; and Tk 1,588.56 crore in Rupali Bank.

 

He said that among the specialized banks, the classified loans in Bangladesh Krishi Bank is Tk 5,022.50 crore, Tk 615.26 crore in Bangladesh Development Bank, Tk 1,532.22 in Rajshahi Krishi Unnyan Bank and Tk 2,557.34 in BASIC Bank.

 

The Finance Minister further informed the House that a separate taskforce cell has been formed in the Bangladesh Bank to observe and supervise the situation of the defaulted loans.

 

He said steps have been taken to implement the ADR system for realizing the defaulted loans through out of the court settlement.

 

The banks have been suggested to appoint agent for recovering the defaulted loans, Muhith said.
