Cancellation of Amir’s visit tied to President Rahman’s death

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kuwait has reached an agreement with the ministries of Interior, Social Affairs and Labor to settle the problems of Bangladeshis residing in the country, reports Al-Watan daily quoting Bangladeshi Ambassador to Kuwait Syed Shahed Reza.

According to the ambassador, the current minimum wage stipulated in the employment contracts of Bangladeshis is KD 60 and there has been strong coordination with the Kuwaiti authorities to recruit more Bangladeshi workers in the future in line with the actual manpower needs of the companies. He pointed out the Embassy fully supports the efforts of Kuwait to eliminate visa traders who bring marginal workers and jobless foreigners into the country.

On the cancellation of the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the ambassador explained this happened due to the death of Bangladeshi President Zillur Rahman. He said the Amir was also busy preparing for the recently-concluded Arab Summit in Doha, Qatar.
