Claiming that they were denied justice, Farhat Quader Chowdhury, the wife of condemned convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, on Tuesday said they will go for appeal against the ICT-1 verdict against her husband.

“Although we know we won’t get justice, we’ll appeal against the verdict as we want to show the people of the country and the world what is actually happening here in the name of trial,” she told reporters shortly after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 pronounced the verdict against her husband.

The tribunal on Tuesday found BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury guilty of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971 and condemned him to death.

The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, pronounced the verdict at 1:15pm. This is the first verdict against any BNP leader on war crimes charges.

Farhat Quader alleged that the copy of the verdict in the Salauddin Quader case has been available on the Internet since Monday.

Showing a compiled book, she told the reporters, “See the copy of the verdict available on the website before the judge started reading out the judgment. I’ve downloaded it and brought the copy here. You’re journalists why you couldn’t collect it.”

She also alleged that the judges read out the judgment prepared by the Law Ministry. “We’ve come to know the Law Ministry has prepared the judgment copy. We’ve got stunned seeing how the judges can read out the verdict made by the Law Ministry!”

Farhat said those testified against Salauddin Quader Chowdhury had said they did not see him before the 1971. If it’s true how did they recognise him during the incidents?

She also alleged that Salauddin Quader was not given due time to produce defence witnesses before the court.

  1. AT LONG LAST KANGAROO COURT APOLOGISED FOR THE ADVANCED LEAKING OF THE DEATH VERDICT OF GOVERNMENTS VOCAL POLITICAL OPPONENT:

It is not good for the Executive controlled Awami Kangaroo court first by vehemently and angrily denying the crime and now apologising after a second thought when the entire world is an uproar against this grand forgery while the verdict of accused death sentence was leaked in advance. There MUST not be any witch hunt to punish the patriotic civil servants who saved not only an innocent person from pre-planned judicial murder but the humanity as well and served the cause of justice. Guilty persons MUST be arrested at once, put in custody, file case against them and try them in an open court in the presence of international observer before they disappear from the country. In the meantime the vindictive, politically motivated, criminal “INTERNATIONAL” Kangaroo court ‘s all proceeding must be stopped and the circus closed down.
