Two minor girls were killed when a crude bomb exploded in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Kulsum Akhter, 9, and Riya Akhter of Mirpur-13.
Kazi Wajed Ali, officer-in-charge of Kafrul police station, said suddenly a crude bomb went off when Kulsum and her four-and-half-year-old niece Riya were playing in front of their house in the afternoon, leaving the duo injured.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 3:30 pm where Kulsum succumbed to her injuries at about 6:30 pm while Riya at about 7:30 pm.
Police said both the minor girls might have met the tragedy while playing with the abandoned crude bomb.
