Tofail taunts Khaleda for soft line of action prog

In the wake of BNP’s soft line of action programmes against the government, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Wednesday said that BNP chairperson Khaleda Ziah has ignored the hard line realising the ground reality.

“Khaleda Zia has realised that she herself made the weapon of movement blunt by misusing it,” he said.

Tofail, also an advisory council member of the ruling Awami League, said this while inaugurating a photo show organised by Awami Swechhasebak League marking the National Mourning Day in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at city’s Dhanmondi.

Although the top party leaders had repeatedly threatened to wage a strong movement after Eid-ul-Fitr, the BNP-led alliance on Tuesday declared a 13-day soft action programme.

The veteran Awami League leader also came down hard on Khaleda Zia for celebrating her ‘fake birthday’ on the National Mourning Day.

“Those who celebrate birthdays by cutting cakes don’t believe in the country’s independence and prosperity,” Tofail added.

Awami Swechhasebak League president Mollah Md Abu Kawsar and general secretary Pankaj Debnath were, among others, present at the programme.
