‘Talks will bring suitable solution’

 

The 18th session of the ninth Parliament has begun under the first female speaker with the Awami League-led coalition government set to present its last budget.

Parliament with Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the Speaker’s chair began its session at 5:30pm on Monday.

President Abdul Hamid proposed this session on May 14. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place the budget for 2013-2014 fiscal on June 6.

The Finance Minister, like earlier, will give a power point presentation to present the budget plans.

The Speaker gave a welcome speech in the beginning of the session. She said only a parliamentary democracy will bring an acceptable solution to the problems confronting the nation.

Main opposition BNP has joined Parliament after being absent for 83 consecutive days.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Deputy Leader of Parliament Sajeda Chowdhury, Muhith, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Information Minister and President of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) Hasanul Haq Inu, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, Raushan Ershad and Bangladesh Workers Party chief Rashed Khan Menon were present.
