  1. I admire Sharmin, one of Tajuddin’s daughters for taking time to record history has it happened then.

It is quite clear from Sharmin’s narrative that Tajuddin was much more convinced of and committed to the concept of an independent Bangladesh than that of Sk. Mujib’s, at least on that fateful night of March 25, 1971.

But does it really matter. I personally believe that Sk. Mujib took the right decision by not going underground and also not by signing the declaration of independence at that particular moment. Had he done it, it would have given Pakistanis the high moral ground to justify their killing mission.

Many also believe that had Pakistanis been a bit more accomodating and not foolishly rejectionists tBangladesh’s independence movement would not have happened, at least not in 1971,

Regardless, the point I am trying to make here is this that it really does not matter who did what and also also it is irrelevant how much some minded people cry foul,at the revelation of real facts, these self-proclaimed blind people must realize that facts are facts and that these cannot be altered. Instead they must accept as these happened and analyse and rationalize in their right contexts.

It is no denying that Mujib’s sustained automony movement mobilized erstwhile East Pakistanis as one, against the Pakistani establishment. Tajuddin’s decision to not to hold much hope on further negotiation with Pakistanis post March 25, 1971 was also right. At the same time Sk. Mujib’s decision not to join Tajuddin was also wise as it gave Bangladesh movement much needed moral credibility. Furthermore, in the immediate aftermath of crackdown of March 25, 1971 when the there was no political leadership to guide and inspire, Zia’s radio announcement might not have been the most important element in Bangladesh’s freedom struggle it was pivotal in inspiring people at that dark and despairing moment. All these facts are true and they complement each other. Only those who either suffer from brain damage or stand to gain personally by twisting history, deny these.

The facebook diatribes of Student League and the Awami supporters against Sharmin’s what I consider a milestone document in Bangladesh’s historical narratives are a clear indication how low Awami Leage and its auxiliaries have dipped into. These vermins are eating up the very soul of the country. Someone should take control and bring this once-great party to its hallowed glory. If not the inevitable will happen – AL will meet the same fate as Muslim League, the pioneering but susequently degenerating political party of Pakistan – it will simply wither away in the dustbin of history!

  2. The fact of history needs to be understood in its context. Bangabandhu had won the election and rightfully deserved to be the prime minister of all Pakistan. Any leader should have availed his hard earned right. He saw this was an opportunity to improve the livelihood of the Bengalis who were deprived from their equal rights for 23 years. It was not wise to announce independence since the negotiation was going on. It was difficult but apparently in right direction. The Pakistani army along with support of Bhutto started sudden genocide on 25th March resulted in beginning of the Liberation war, their treachery was suspected by many including Tajuddin and Brig. Majumdar who had warned Bongobondhu and suggested preempted strike and or declaration of Independent. Bongobonsdhu also knew about the possibility but he had to go through the steps as a responsible leader. The liberation war begin spontaneously by the armed forces where-ever they were for their survival and also to strike back. Shortly thereafter the whole process was organized by political, armed forces and foreign support including key support by India.
Bongbandhu remains the father of the nation because he had inspired the whole process and organized the whole platform and even declared the path of independence (if he were unable to give instruction at any critical juncture) on March 7th speech. After sudden attack the country was in shock and Major Zia’s speech energized the people since they knew that Bengali army is with them and also revolted against the murdering Pakistani army. Zia cannot be considered anything more than the role he played. Tajuddin worked hard and made a very successful campaign by spearheaded the liberation war. Many other political leaders, freedom fighters, the general people both inside and outside of the country played active role and together courageously fought the Pakistani army until its defeat. Due to simple political reason the history is regularly challenged. The common people know about it but cannot play any role in such propaganda. We hope people will at one time see all these are complimentary not antagonizing. We must respect every piece of history since these are facts

Not will, must happen as there is no quality leader who can keep AL live next 20 years.
