Stay at home, Inu tells Khaleda

The minister for information, Hasanul Haq Inu, on Thursday advised Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia to stay at home to avoid incidents of attack on her motorcade.
He said Khaleda Zia was able to return to her Gulshan residence unhurt on Wednesday as the government provided security.
‘We are trying to secure BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia,’ Inu told a press conference at the secretariat.
The minister came up with the remarks after three consecutive attacks in the past three days on the motorcade of Khaleda Zia reportedly carried out by ruling Awami League men in the capital. She had been campaigning for city polls scheduled for April 28.
‘It (attack on Khaleda’s convoy) is sad and condemnable. The government should ensure security of every citizen even though he or she is an accused.’
The minister said Khaleda Zia should quit politics and seek apology to the people for what he said arson attacks and killing innocent people during the countrywide blockade and general strike programmes in the past three months.
He gave a picture of development activities by the AL-led government in last six years.
