State Minister for Home warns BNP

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday warned the Bangladesh Nationalist Party of stern actions if the party’s announced protests turn into violent programmes.

He said, “Countrymen are in peace and rest. They want to move freely. If it is violated, Awami League leaders-activists will took to the streets. Courage will be measured through actions.”

He was addressing a pre-procession rally organised by Amara Nagarbashi in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka marking Eid festival.

The state minister said, “People across the country will observer month-long mourning since Friday. BNP has already announced protests in this month. We’ve no objection if they held peaceful protests. But if they resort to pre-January 5 polls violence, namely setting fire, killing people by burning them alive with petrol etc, the government will took stern actions as per its utmost ability.”

The rally was participated, among others, by Food Minister Kamrul Islam and Dhaka city Awami League organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad.
