SQ Chy falls sick in dock

BNP MP Salauddin Quader Chowdhury has fallen sick while testifying in his defence.

The court proceedings were immediately adjourned after he suddenly fell sick at around 3:30pm on Monday. He was taken to Kashimpur jail in a prison van.

The three-judge International Crimes Tribunal-1, set up to try crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War, indicted the BNP leader for 23 charges of crimes against humanity during the freedom war in 1971.

The tribunal’s Deputy Registrar Arunabha Chakraborti had advised the accused to rest a little before departing. But Chowdhury refused to stay, so he was immediately taken back to the prison.

The MP began his deposition for the sixth day on Monday at ICT-1 headed by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir.

He began his deposition as defence witness on Jun 17 to fight the charges of war crimes against him.
