News - Sohel Rana on 15-day remand
 A Dhaka court here on Monday placed Sohel Rana, owner of collapsed Rana Plaza, on a 15-day remand in two cases filed in connection with the complex collapse.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Wasim Sheikh passed the order when police produced him before the court seeking a 20-day remand.

After hearing, the court granted an 8-day remand in a case filed under penal Code Act while seven days’ remand in another case filed under Building Construction Act.

Besides, the court also placed Ether Tex Chairman Anisur Rahman on 12 days’ remand in two cases while two associates of Sohel Rana-Shah Alam Mithu and Anil Das- on 5 days’ remand each for helping Rana in his bid to flee to India.

Earlier, on Sunday, members of elite force Rab arrested Sohel Rana along with his two associates from Benapole in Jessore, foiling his bid to flee to India.

Meanwhile, the plain clothes police arrested Anisur Rahman, owner of Ether Tex factory housed in Rana Plaza, from the city’s Ramna area on Sunday night.
