News - Sit in dialogue, shun terrorist acts: Quamrul to BNP

State Minister for law Quamrul Islam on Wednesday renewed his party’s call to BNP to sit in a dialogue to resolve the ongoing political crisis shunning what he said the path terrorist activities.

“Join the upcoming parliament session beginning on April 21 by shunning hartal and anarchic activities. Place your (BNP) proposal in parliament, if any… please, don’t enforce hartal any more,” he said.

Quamrul also urged BNP chief Khaleda Zia not to cause any harm to HSC examinees by enforcing any more hartal.

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations scheduled for April 11 (Thursday) have been shifted to April 19 (Friday) due to countrywide hartal called by Islami Chhatra Shibir for Thursday.

The State Minister made the remarks while addressing a human-chain programme organised by Sammilito Awami Samarthak Jote at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

They arranged the programme in protest against the ongoing 36-hour hartal enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance.

Quamrul continued: “If you (BNP) part with Jamaat and the war criminals, then we (govt) will sit in dialogue with you. The crisis could be resolved only through talks.”

Mentioning that hartal cannot help resolve any crisis, Quamrul alleged that BNP is conspiring to create a 1/11-like situation in the country.
