Sholakia attacker Shafiul among two killed in RAB ‘gunfight’

Two alleged militants, including one accused in a case filed in connection with Sholakia attack, were killed in an alleged gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Nandail of Mymensingh district on Thursday night.

One of the deceased-Shafiul Islam aka Saiful Islam, 22-is an accused in Sholakia attack case although the identity of the other was not available immediately.

Nandail police station officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman told the Prothom Alo that the ‘gunfight’ took place in Dangir village near Kishoreganj-Mymensingh Highway around 11:15pm.

Earlier on 7 July, the Eid day, three people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.

Besides, Abir Rahman, a student of North South University and an alleged militant, was killed in the gunfight with police while Saiful arrested from the spot.
