The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a High Court order that directed authorities concerned to remove illegal stairs at different points of Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Dhaka.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division dismissed an appeal filed by Orion Infrastructure Limited challenging the High Court order. The bench was headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.
Earlier, the apex court had stalled the removal of stairs, as ordered by the High Court, on June 9.
Earlier on May 31, the HC in a suomoto (of its own) move administered to take necessary steps to remove all the illegal stairs from Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover.
A rule was also issued asking the authorities concerned to explain in four weeks why they should not be directed to remove the stairs from the flyover.
