Sayedee verdict any day

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 will pronounce the verdict in the case against war crimes accused Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee any day as the arguments in the case ended on Thursday.

Sayedee, the detained nayeb-e-ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, is facing 20 specific charges of crimes against humanity that he had allegedly committed during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

The ICT-1 led by Justice Nizamul Huq told this to the court after the prosecution and defence lawyers completed their arguments before the court around 3:50pm.

On Wednesday, the tribunal ordered defence counsels to complete placement of arguments by today (Thursday).

The three-member tribunal on Tuesday closed defence arguments and ordered prosecution to place their counter arguments.

However, following a prayer from the defence counsels, the tribunal extended the time until today.
