Saudi Arabia ‘opens’ to Bangladeshi labour

The move means the kingdom is now again open for Bangladeshi labourers, said Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

Migrant workers from Bangladesh can now change their professions in their permits or Iqama, which will allow them to continue working in that oil-rich country.

“I received a letter an hour ago which said that our Bangladeshi brothers can now change their Iqamas,” he told bdnews24.com on Thursday.

The procedure to change Iqama will start from Feb 16 and continue indefinitely, said the minister.

New workers can go to Saudi Arabia to work once they send requisitions to us, he said.
