Salahuddin’s wife moves HC seeking her husband’s whereabouts

A criminal petition was filed with the High Court on Thursday seeking a court direction on the government to produce BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed before it within twenty-four hours.

The petition under section 498 of the CrPC, filed by Hasina Ahmed, wife of Salahuddin, will come up for hearing before an HC division bench comprising Justice Quamrul Islam Siddiqui and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore after 2:30 pm today (Thursday), court sources said.

Salahuddin Ahmed’s family on Wednesday claimed that the law enforcers picked him up from a Uttara house on Tuesday night. They fear that law the enforcers might have detained Salahuddin and taken him to some unknown place without handing him over to any police station.

Salahuddin had been issuing statements including those with hartal announcements, on behalf of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, since the arrest of another BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
