News - RMG workers go berserk in Gazipur
 Hundreds of garment workers went on a rampage in different areas of the district demanding capital punishment of Sohel Rana, owner of Rana Plaza on Monday.
Sources said several hundred workers from Bhogra, BoardBazar, Konabari, Kashimpur, Kaliakoir, Mouchak, Palli Bidyut, Chandra, Laxmipura came out from their workplace after seeing cracks developed in their factories and staged demonstration demanding safety in their workplace and capital punishment of Sohel Rana.
The agitated workers put barricade on Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highway, disrupting traffic movement for few hours.
A chase and counter-chase took place between the workers and police when police tried to disperse them.
Fire service sources said the agitated workers also vandalised the windowpanes of a sweater factory and some vehicles on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Maleker Bari area.
They also set fire to a private car and a motorcycle in the area.
Authorities declared many factories closed for today amid the violent protests of the workers.
Additional police, industrial police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
