Reopening of Tuba Group factories demanded

Tuba Group Sramik Sangram Committee on Wednesday demanded reopening of all five factories under Tuba Group immediately and payment of current month’s salary to workers.

Addressing a press conference held at CPB office in the city, Convener of the committee Moshrefa Mishu placed the demand.

She alleged that government alongside the garment factory owners undermined the rational movement of the workers against torture, lay off and deprivation terming the movement as ‘conspiracy to destroy the garment industry’.

Turning down the allegation raised by Tuba Group’s owner Delwar Hossain that workers stole away machines and other goods from his factories, Mishu said it is absolutely false.

She announced fresh programmes for August 29 and September 7 demanding cancellation of bail of Delwar and maximum punishment to him.

The organisation will hold a rally in front of Jaitya Press Club on August 29 and the garments workers will demonstrate in front of the Labour Ministry on September 7.

Leaders of different garment workers’ associations and garment workers attended the press conference.
