Raushan likely to meet Hasina Thursday

Jatiya Party senior presidium member Raushan Ershad is likely to meet Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban on Thursday evening.

Although Raushan was scheduled to meet Hasina on Wednesday evening, the meeting will be held on Thursday’s evening, said a highly placed source at the Prime Minister Office.

Sources at Awami League and Jatiya Party said the matter relating to the new opposition party and its leader in Parliament might come up for discussion in the meeting between Sheikh Hasina and Raushan Ershad.

The Jatiya Party in the 10th general election so far bagged 33 seats — 20 uncontested and 13 in Sunday’s election.

Kazi Firoze Rashid, a JP leader, told the media that Raushan Ershad will be the opposition leader in the 10th Parliament although its chairman former military ruler HM Ershad is still alive and elected MP in the election from Rangpur-3 constituency.

The newly elected MPs will take oath on Thursday morning.
