A case has been filed against two police officers with a Dhaka court on charge of taking Tk 2 lakh as bribe from a trader threatening to put him on crossfire.

M Zakir Hossain filed the case against officer-in-charge of Ramna Model Police Station Mohammad Mashiur Rahman and sub-inspector Jamal Hossain of New Market Police Station with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman on Sunday.

Taking congnisance of the complaint, the court ordered judicial investigation into it.

In his case statement, Zakir alleged that the OC demanded Tk 2 lakh to him in the early hours of June 4 while he was on three days’ remand in two cases.

He also threatened to put the victim on crossfire unless his demand was met. Jamal was present at that time.

Later, his wife gave the amount to the OC the same night. “After receiving the money, the OC told me ‘take rest … you need not to be worried’.”
