Rally ask govt to immediately compensate Rana Plaza victims’ families

Leaders of RMG workers on Friday at a rally in the city demanded of the government to compensate the families of the Rana Plaza victims immediately.

They said the families of the Rana Plaza victims need the compensation very badly as they are passing through untold sufferings after losing their earning family members in the Savar building collapse.

Garments Sramik Trade Union Kendra organised the rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Friday afternoon.

Chaired by Rana Plaza Workers Union president, the rally was addressed, among others, by Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) president Mujahidul Islam Selim and general secretary of Garments Sramik Trade Union Kendra Kazi Ruhul Amin.

Mujahidul Islam Selim said the tendency to downgrade the RMG workers in implementing the new wage structure must be resisted. The new wage structure must be implemented for the sweater workers as well, he added.

Kazi Ruhul Amin said the workers’ right to form trade union should be ensured to enable them to realise their rights.
