Quader Mollah shifted to Dhaka jail

 

Hours after publishing the full judgment by the apex court, war crimes convict condemned Abdul Quader Mollah of Jamaat-e-Islami was shifted to Dhaka Central Jail from Kashimpur Jail on Thursday evening.

 

When contacted, Jailer of Dhaka Central Jail Mahbubur Rahman confirmed that Quader Mollah landed at the Central Jail at about 5:30 pm.

 

Allowing the government’s appeal seeking death sentence for him, the Appellate Division on September 17 with a majority decision sentenced lifer Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Mollah to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

 

On February 5, convicting detained Jamaat leader Quader Mollah on five counts of the 1971 war crimes, the International Crimes Tribunnal-2 unanimously sentenced him to life term imprisonment.
