It is always good sense to have an idea of how much your entire undergraduate degree might cost you

Deciding on the university where you will be spending the next four years of your life can be a daunting task, but for many of us it comes down to one simple factor—the cost. Of course, there are plenty of other variables that will influence your final decision, but it is always good sense to have an idea of how much your entire undergraduate degree might cost you.

Two degrees, 20 universities

To help you along with your decision, we bring you a summary of the estimated costs of two of the most popular degrees selected by freshers—a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English—at the Top 20 private universities in Bangladesh.

This includes the one-time admission fee that has to be given at the beginning of every year, and an average of the extra fees that are incurred every semester, under the assumption that most students will be able to finish their degrees within 12 semesters.

Value for money

At first glance, the winner in terms of value for money is definitely East West University. Ranked as the third best private university in Bangladesh, its costs for both BBA and English degrees are significantly lower than the other top five universities. Daffodil is also a close runner up in terms of value for money for both degrees. Among the Top 10 universities, the total costs of studying at Ulab are comparatively cheaper as well, but as you go further down the table, the costs of the degrees predictably start to drop.

Look out for scholarships

Almost all universities have scholarships and waivers, most of them merit-based, so please note that the cost given here are not completely set in stone. Information about these waivers are all available online at their respective websites. There are also other costs that can be incurred, especially if you are forced to re-sit for exams and drop semesters, so before you start your degrees, make sure you have a planned schedule of when you will finish. In this case, time really is money.

The table in this article previously stated the total cost of an undergraduate BBA degree from the University of Asia Pacific was Tk8,99,000. The table has since been updated to reflect the correct cost to Tk6,20,000. We regret the unfortunate error.
