Dr Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of Transparency International Bangladesh, addresses a programme organised to reveal the survey of Transparency International on ‘Global Corruption Barometer-2012′ at Brac center in the capital Tuesday morning.

Political parties and police department are the two most corruption-plagued sectors in Bangladesh, according to a survey conducted by Transparency International.

Most of the people who responded to a TI survey, ‘Global Corruption Barometer-2012′, identified the judiciary as the second most corruption-riddled sector.

The global corruption watchdog’s Bangladesh chapter, TIB, released the report at Brac Centre in the capital Tuesday morning.

According to the survey, 60 percent respondents believe that corruption increased over the last two years.

The survey revealed that 93 percent people consider political parties and police department as the most corrupt sectors in the country while 89 percent people think the judiciary is the second most corrupt sector.

According to the survey report, 76 percent people who took part in the survey marked the corruption in government sector as a serious concern.

But 92 percent participants opined that common people played a role in curbing corruption and they want to play their due role in curtailing graft.

TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman gave the welcome speech at the programme.
