PM violating electoral rules: Fakhrul

Fakrul-final

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina violated electoral rules by what it said “holding rallies at government expense”.

“From the rallies, she (PM) is asking people to vote her party to power, and it is a violation of the electoral rules,” said BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He was talking to reporters after paying tribute to BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman at his grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.

The main opposition party is celebrating its 35th founding anniversary.

Fakhrul reiterated his party’s claim that the government is hatching a new conspiracy to prolong its stay in power by amending the constitution.

Upholding BNP’s stance on the polls-time government, the BNP leader said again that his party would not participate in the upcoming election if it is not held under a non-party government.
