PM says Bangladesh cannot help Rohingya

Sheikh Hasina says her country can not afford to accommodate more refugees fleeing Myanmar.

Bangladesh’s prime minister has told Al Jazeera that her country cannot afford to accomodate more Rohingya Muslim refugees fleeing persecution in neighbouring Myanmar.

The statement follows reports that Bangledishi authorities have been rejecting many of the asylum seekers.

Sheikh Hasina defended the policy, saying Bangladesh is already overpopulated. There are already about 300,000 Rohingya living in refugee camps in the country. She said that it is not her country’s responsibility to help all of the refugees.

  1. Very sad indeed! Poor Rohingyas Muslims with no support even from its own people in BD! However, in Pakistan the matter is currently under hot debate. People have voiced serious concern some of which are: take up matter with Myanmar, OIC, world forum including UNO, influence of countries friendly to
it and the TIP with an atrocious call to attack all Myanmar interests inside & outside the country. These sentiments are a daily debate here.

  2. Please read TIP as TTP in my above comments. The mentor of BD is behind this as has always been. However much Pakistan is ridiculed & marginalized as an international policy, it is still the only capable Islamic country with a hard hitting potentials in all fields.
