Tamim’s screamer to send back Mahmudullah
Mahmudullah is a key batsman in the Khulna Titans middle-order. The skipper more often than not has to score significantly to give his team a good total. He started confidently, taking ones and twos easily. But Chittagong Vikings sent him back to the pavilion quite early, thanks to Tamim Iqbal’s brilliant catch. It was a screamer from Tamim. Taskin Ahmed bowled a shortish ball in the line of off stump to Mahmudullah and the right-hander looked to play an extravagant pull shot. It seemed like he was hurried into the shot as he miscued it completely towards the on-side. Tamim, stationed at the mid-wicket region, ran back, stretched his hand out and took a really good catch. The ball was always running away from him but the skipper covered good ground to grab it. Khulna were in total disarray after losing their captain.

Kevon Cooper had not played in the first two matches for Khulna and many thought it was a surprise decision not to select him. The West Indies all-rounder though was picked for Saturday’s match and showed his worth straight away. The right-arm seamer took the crucial wickets of both the Chittaging opening batsmen Tamim and Dwayne Smith with his variation and conceded just two runs is his two-over first-spell. First, the in-form Tamim tried to clear mid-on but awful timing saw him gift an easy catch to Shafiul Islam. Then, Cooper dismissed the dangerous Smith in the sixth over to give Khulna a brilliant start.

Former Pakistan captain and Rangpur Riders spinner Shahid Afridi continued his superb bowling form against Dhaka Dynamites. In the previous game against Khulna, Afridi ran havoc, bagging four wickets conceding only 12 runs. And on Saturday too, he weaved his magic yet again. Dhaka were cruising at one stage, scoring quite easily. But Afridi came to the attack in the ninth over and checked the run-rate. Afridi then took two wickets in an over and brought Rangpur right back into the game. First, Nasir Hossain got out for a well-made 33-ball 38 before Ravi Bopara (nought) made his way to the dressing room after being trapped in front.

Nasir chips in with vital contributions
Dhaka’s Nasir made an all-round contribution against Rangpur Saturday, once again proving his value to the capital city outfit. First, Nasir, coming in at No 3, scored a valuable 33-ball 38 to give Dhaka the platform for a competitive total. Then, he picked up the important wicket of Rangpur opener Soumya Sarkar (two) to provide Dhaka a good start while defending 170. Nasir’s contributions do not stop there as he is also an excellent fielder. He grabbed the catch of the dangerous Mohammad Shahzad (11) off the bowling of Sanjamul Islam. It seems Nasir is having a great BPL 4 so far, be it with the bat, ball or in the field.
