‘People ready to respond with ballot’

Khaleda

Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia has again warned the Awami League against going ahead with plans to hold the general election while in office.

She claimed that the people cannot wait to see the back of the Grand Alliance government in the ballot.

The BNP Chairperson sounded the warning as the government keeps rebuffing the opposition demand to have a non-partisan interim government oversee the parliamentary elections.

“We would like to make it clear to the government that no-one will be allowed to stage election being in office. The government must give election under a non-party government,” she said on Monday night.

“The people of the country are ready to respond to this corrupt and looter government through ballot, by not arms and ammunition, in that election,” she said at her Gulshan office

The former Prime Minister was addressing a function marking the release of the BNP leaders and activists from jail over the last few days.
